The OVES Tech Enrichment group is made up of fifth graders who submitted a resume to be part of the group. Ms. Eckert, the technology teacher and Mrs. Ponce, the OVEEP teacher, read all of the resumes and chose the students. The group meets once a week to make movies and podcasts. Later they can use their skills to help other students in the classroom and be leaders of technology.
Our first project was to create a podcast of a book for younger students using the program Garage Band. The tech students practiced reading the book to become fluent, and then looked for pictures and created pictures to go with the reading. They used a program called Pixie to create the pictures. They also explored Garage Band for sound effects and background songs to accompany the reading.
