    History

Technology integration at OVHS has evolved over the last 20 years.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s the establishment of several computer labs began the integration of technology primarily for word processing projects.

With the expansion of the Internet came additional uses for instructional technology with the incorporation of electronic databases, online research, and PowerPoint presentations. The number of computer labs at OVHS expanded with the purchase of the first mobile laptop cart which took the technology into the classroom as opposed to students going to the technology.

As we passed the year 2000 OVHS continued to move forward with 21st century skills with participation in the Project 720 and Classrooms for the Future initiatives. Over 230 laptops and 100 desktops were purchased through a variety of funding sources as well as over 30 interactive whiteboards. A technology instructional coach was hired to provide staff development to teachers on the best practices for implementing technology into the classroom. Teachers and students are now ready to move to the next level in creating high level projects using podcasting, video, collaboration, online, and other skills necessary for the 21st century world. A plan for effective technology integration has been developed for all students.
